Showcase & Sell your art with LAG
If you’ve never hung art with the Lacombe Art Guild and are looking for a breakdown of what to expect here’s a few things that will help you prepare for it!
Our changeout coordinator: Nancy Lawrence
We currently have art that we hang on display and have up for sale by members in three locations here within the City of Lacombe: Lacombe Memorial Centre, Charis Village, and FYi Eyecare.
The work is put up and displayed for several months at a time, and we do an exchange of work out three times per year.
Here are the newest dates:
Nov 4th, 2025 (Tuesday): FYi Eyecare (near Sobeys) - we can start around 4:30, especially if you are picking up art - we will convene in the little staff room down the hall to the left of the reception area, like before.
Nov 5th, 2025 ( Wednesday): Lacombe Memorial Centre - we start taking down art around 4:30pm here
Nov 6th, 2025 (Thursday): Charis Village - We can start at 9:30 - we appreciate any help here - we realize that it is a working day, but we can't access this lobby for hanging except during business hours
LMC (Lacombe Memorial Centre)
This venue can accommodate works from 4ft x 3ft wide and under in size. Please select work that can hang with d-ring hooks.
FYi Eyecare
This is our only venue that does not use wire hanging systems yet so all spots are hung on nails for displaying. Smaller works would be recommended here 36” and under.
Charis Village
Should you have larger works this venue can accommodate to 4ft works and under, and uses a wire hanging system for display.
What can you do to prepare your work for display?
Ensure all works have a title prepared, are properly signed, and that you have a price set for them
Attach d-ring hooks to the backs of your work - venues display with a wire hanging system so works must be able to be hung accordingly - you can hooks online through Amazon, Home Depot, Home Hardware, and sometimes in art stores! (Picture below).
Make sure you have your own records of what work has been placed in which venue
Arrival
Typically upon arriving at the venue for the art changeout, find the clipboard and fill out your details to check your artwork in - include your name, title of work, medium of the work, price, and your email and a phone number (it will all be on a sheet for you to fill out)
If you have work that is being pulled down from display, you will need to check that artwork out (find your name on the sheet and initial it has been picked up)
At check in you will also get an art card to display this info below your work, to be hung on the right bottom corner of your work. Each piece will need it’s own card with info. (Picture below)
If you artwork sells at a venue:
It is up to the artist to arrange pickup with the customer purchasing, and you can take payment in whatever form you wish. The artist will send 15% after the sales to the Lacombe Art Guild - these fees go to supporting the Lacombe Arts Endowment Fund. (this can be sent to us in etransfer, cash, or cheque)
It is up to the artist to bring and replace the sold artwork with a new piece - please let us know so we can add this info to our sheet should you replace a work. If you need a little time to get the new piece displayed we do have a sign showing sold that can be placed there in the meantime.
Not for Sale Work (NFS):
You can display works you don’t want to sell - however these are often the ones people want to buy!
You may display works made during a class as a “sample” to show others
If you are a new member, with no art to hang right now, we would still love to see you at any venue and you can see how it works! And, we will always say yes to a few extra helping hands during these changeouts!
