Learn all about acrylics with Savannah, from SASART. No experience is needed to attend this class, and if you have intermediate or advanced she will come around to help and give tips that help at whatever skill level you are at.

Before you go out and buy more supplies!! Use what you have on hand, and learn to work with what you have. Even if you don’t have the exact same supplies, that is ok! This class is more about the skills and the techniques, and the process of becoming familiar than it is on strict “must-haves” to make art. So no specific brands or things are needed.
What will be covered?
Grisaille technique (black and white underpainting) and layering thin acrylic colours on top
Underpainting in other colours (such as ochre, neon orange or pink, or even baby blue)
Primary colours and mixing
Basics of acrylics
Discussion of medium and practicing techniques, after artwork is complete what products to use like isolation coats, and sealants
Drafting and sketching basics in pencil, or with paint when making your underpainting
Supplies list:
Wrapped canvas or canvas paper
Instructor will most likely use a 12” x 12” wrap canvas, and canvas paper in a 16” x 20” or smaller
Will be experimenting as well in a sketchbook
Paint brushes - use your favourite ones!
Instructor uses: filbert brushes in assorted sizes like 2, 6, and 10, along with a few different lenghts of liner brushes. Sometimes a fan brush as well.
Paper towel
Water and two cups
Instructor uses two clear bottles with lids, for clean and dirty
Pencil, eraser, ruler (whatever drafting supplies you want)
Paint
Black
White
Primary colours: yellow, red, blue
Bring your own special colours you prefer for a coloured underpainting - yellow ochre, neon orange or pink, or baby blue
Other items that may be useful
Stay-wet pallet is helpful for extending use of acrylics
A medium extender product to allow thinning of the paint without losing integrity
Inspiration fall photos or examples you like (choose what calls to you - pumpkins, fall scenes, nature photos, ghosts, Autumn things)
Some like to also use a gum eraser
White ball point gel pen or a posca fine liner white pen for highlights (or black for fine lining)
Sketchbook for practicing concepts or writing down tips
